It’s an honour to share that I have been awarded a 2024 May Gibbs Childrens Literature Trust Fellowship.

The May Gibbs Children’s Literature Trust promotes the creation of contemporary Australian children’s literature in the belief that children’s books, written and illustrated by Australians, are vital to the well-being, creativity and literacy of our children.

And I am equally thrilled to share that i have also been awarded an extra honour of the Mary Wilson Fellowship.

It was a thrill to receive this news in recognition of my application’s focus on the children’s environmental stories I aim to explore during my residency:

“Each year, where appropriate, in honour and acknowledgement of our National Patron and invaluable supporter Mary Wilson who has been generous in her wonderful and passionate support to the Trust over the past 24 years, one of the CTR Fellows is announced as our Mary Wilson Fellowship (MWF) recipient.
We are excited to let you know that you have been announced as our 2024 Mary Wilson Fellowship recipient, congratulations! You have been selected by the Selection Panel as this recipient as your application addresses a significant environmental theme in your project proposal.”

The May Gibbs Fellowship provides folks like me with the gift of uninterrupted time and an inspiring writing space in The Burrow, Adelaide. I’m tremendously excited about the story threads I’ll be piecing together next year.

I’m so grateful to the Trust to be sharing this honour with 4 other talented authors and illustrators for 2024 and to be supported for my environmental focus too.
