Australian short story win

A little bit chuffed to share that I’ve been awarded 2nd prize in the Mulga Bill Writing Award coordinated by Eaglehawk Library.
I’ve been a huge fan of the works produced from this award, and of course, its namesake Mulga Bill, who was the inspiration behind the Australian classic Mulga Bill’s Bicycle, by one of my literary heroes Banjo Patterson. (As a teenager I could recite this poem word for word!)
I wrote the short story Stone Fruit Season many years ago inspired by living in a remote community in the high country, and I’ve returned several times to the desk to tinker with its characters and narrative. I’m so glad the story resonated and thank the judges for their kind words.
