Seas and Greetings … that’s a wrap on 2022

Whoa, what a year that just was! It’s been quite an incredible ride. Returning to life after 2 years of rolling COVID lockdowns, supporting a VCE Yr 12 child, reassembling my business after pandemic interruptions … and the small matter of winning a CBCA Picture Book of the Year – Early Childhood medal for my debut book.  I could never have predicted this, but certainly strapped in and enjoyed / endured the ride!

I want to send my gratitude and joy to all who have supported me this year, and wish you a peaceful and restful summer.
I’m about to down tools for a few weeks, but before I did I wanted to share a tally of what I produced, presented and participated in during 2022. The only thing I didn’t quite complete was my YA in-progress novel, and I missed out on a few fellowships I applied for, but boy, did I pack a lot of other stuff in.
Here’s the low-down:

28 Bookshops and in-store visits (1 more still to go)

18 Library visits, talks and workshops

2 Festivals

39 Kindergartens, Schools and Educator visits & talks

6 Online author talks

14 Workshops for Copywriting and Community writing

4 Presentation events judging, critiquing or presenting winners

16 Media and Podcast interviews (1 more still to go this year)

7 Interviews of authors for events

15 Interviews of interesting folks for media and blog articles

4 Winning, Highly Commended, Shortlisted and Longlisted stories in competitions

25 Peninsula Writers Club initiatives, meet-ups and events

1 Writer in Residency

1 National Children’s Literature Medal

That’s a grand total of 180 fabulously fun and focused interactions, conversations and engagements! (No wonder I’m tired!) If I met you along the way – thanks for the terrific time we had. Here’s to completing my YA novel in 2023, and nailing my personal writing goals, along with celebrating a new picture book in the world.

Happy summering all …

Cheers,

Andrea
