THE PROJECT

Centenary Communications strategy and Tourism Award submission

THE BRIEF

With Mt Buffalo and Wilsons Promontory National Parks both celebrating Centenary milestones in 1998, Parks Victoria developed a yearlong state-wide program of events and activities to celebrate 100 years of national parks in Victoria. I was involved in communications and community engagement right from the outset. I developed and executed a media and communications strategy for stakeholder, government and community to showcase the national park events. At the end of the celebrations, Parks Victoria called on me to prepare a Tourism Awards submission for Special Regional Event. This called for representing and assessing results, community feedback, regional visitor data and project managing imagery and graphic design, and all copywriting.

THE OUTCOME

Park’s Victoria’s first ever Tourism Awards submission in an events category. The organisation was awarded finalist status.
