On the countdown for 2023 Children’s Book Week and stuck for ideas?

Children’s Book Week costume crisis? Roll this way my friends … I have some wheelie good suggestions for my picture book Sunday Skating, illustrated by Hannah Sommerville.

All you’ll need is:

  • helmet
  • rollerskates, rollerblades or skateboard
  • wrist, knee and elbow pads
  • bright coloured skate clothes

and for extra costume oomph:

  • sunset shades in your colour palette
  • ghetto blaster with 1970’s retro tunes (my skate era)
  • use tiny techdecks and create your own accessories like earrings and necklaces

And, if you do have a Sunday Skater in your CBCA Book Week tribe, I’d love to see the final results!

Send me pics to my social media and I’ll share them onwards.

My fav costume will receive a 2023 Children’s Book Week congratulations certificate made by me,  a limited edition Sunday Skating skateboard sticker and a Sunday Skating special mix lolly snack pack of all the classic skate sweets from when I was a kid.

And TEACHERS if there’s a school out there with 5 teachers who dress as the 5 members of either our Sunday Skating or Jetty Jumping crew I’ll gift your school an author chat on Zoom.

Simply DM me on Instagram or Facebook your fab costumes or email me at andrea@andrearowe.com.au and you’ll go in the draw to WIN one of these prize offers

And if you are still stuck – check out my ideas for Jetty Jumping costumes too!

Happy rolling into 2023 Children’s Book Week, one and all.
