Whoa! 2023 you sure were an action-packed, all-happening year!

I have just tallied up my own year of special things and thought you’d be interested to know what went on from my end, and just what I got up to.

I’ve always been a number cruncher and data detective for my freelance life, and that doesn’t change in the authoring world 😊

2023 felt like a fast-tracked year for me, and after a rigorous diary examination, I can see why. And yes, if you’re wondering,  I am a little tired, but also very fulfilled!

Here’s what I achieved:

136 events and happenings, and 52 book store or gift store visits!

Here’s the breakdown:
  • 2 New book releases (Sunday Skating & In the Rockpool)
  • 1 Anthology release (Teacher, Teacher)
  • 1 National award  (Aust Speech Pathology Books of the Year)
  • 2 Interstate trips
  • 42 Author talks and visits
  • 23 Interviews, podcasts audio recordings
  • 19 Festival events, story time sessions, panel guests and moderation roles
  • 14 Workshop presentations
  • 7 Words after Dark Antipodes Books author interviews
  • 8 Ardoch Writer In Residence days
  • 3 Library Openings / special speeches at special ceremonies and events
  • 3 Skate school, roller derby and skate star collaborations & visits
  • 2 Hosted book launches of author works
  • 3 Workshop hosting / facilitating of visiting authors for Peninsula Writers’ Club
  • 1 AGM hosting for Peninsula Writers’ Club
  • 5 Regional writing award hosting, speeches, prize giving and judging events

If I worked alongside you, or shared a conversation, book signing, story-time or reading magic moment with you this year – thank you!

Thank you for investing in books for children, and for grown-ups too.

Stories really do bring us all together.

The good news? I am all set for a summer of restful writing, a new year of scheduled new manuscript development time, an already well-scheduled school and library visit program, and the fun of bringing more reading wonder into the world. \\

See you in 2024,

Andrea.
