A new book written to promote healthier, home-made cleaning alternatives and increase awareness of the dangers of using chemical cleaning products has been launched on the Mornington Peninsula.
Caroline Leslie is an environmental clean-freak and the author behind “Clean Green – It won’t cost the earth” which demystifies cleaning challenges and offers an alternative eco-approach to cleaning. The mother of 3’s commitment to writing this book has been to inspire every day Aussies to make their own non-toxic cleaning products which are friendly to the environment, and which are often difficult to find in stores.
Caroline told me when I caught up with her recently:
Nobody wakes up and looks forward to cleaning the oven or fighting mould, and when you think about the chemicals we are exposing ourselves to though so many cleaning products, it’s no wonder we are getting sick.
The driving force behind this book has been Caroline’s knowledge and experience she gained while nursing her husband Pete back to health after a life life-threatening illness.
Caroline discovered that there was an easier way to approach cleaning that was less harmful on our health, on the environment and on our wallet.
“I wanted to use my own life and business experience to share how current products and approaches can be harmful to our lifestyle, provide easy to follow recipes and offer practical ideas for cleaning tasks with environmentally-friendly homemade options,” she said.
The vivacious Irish-born red-head cemented her environmental and cleaning knowledge through her Mornington Peninsula-based cleaning business.
Home Maid Green Cleaning specialises in offering chemical-free, environmentally sustainable cleaning approaches and products to domestic and business clients.
The business has proven a success story for its owner, who is now developing a franchise model and will be announcing her first franchisee in coming months.
The next goal for this peninsula-based eco-domestic-diva is to share more of her messages with Victorian’s though a regular blog. In the meantime she’s hitting the author’s circuit, sharing her story and inspiring change one environmentally friendly cleaning tip at a time.
